I get that, but this shop has a good reputation and is listed on. Now in the back of my mind, I'm always concerned about his incentive as the shop owner to try to sell me the pump. ![]() I explained the quick heat up this morning and he concurs that something happened with the pump for it to heat up suddenly as it did. No issue here but he did volunteer to me that the pump isn't failed, but that something isn't right with it. They called me to tell me they were doing the flush and wouldn't be completed by EOB today. I told them to keep it as long as they want so that we can get this entire issue resolved. My code reader hasn't been picking anything up but they have far more diagnostic tools than I do and may be able to find something. When I dropped it off at the shop, I told them to thoroughly check & diagnose any issues that may have occurred with the pump & T'stat. The way it happened so suddenly indicated (at least to me), that the water pump or T'stat may be questionable. Waiting only seconds, I started the engine again & watched the coolant temps plummet back down to mid 80's low 90's C. I pulled over at 114C and shut the engine off. When I got to within a mile of the shop, suddenly the temps started to shoot up. ![]() Temp varied with engine load as I would expect. I watched the coolant temps settle in the mid 80s' to mid 90's C on the drive. It's a 20 mile drive to the shop from home and I had the hidden menu temp display up. Took the X3 in to a shop this morning for a coolant flush & refill. ![]()
